LASD Joins the Largest Community of Connected Public Safety Agencies in the Nation
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has awarded a bid for multi-satellite antenna kits to IP Access International, LLC., to ensure that critical communications are delivered using the top capabilities available in the market. The competitively awarded contract includes: (8) Eight HARRIER .85m Fly-Away Antennas, EMR Plus SELECT Service, RedPHONE Service, and VoIP Kits and Service.

By utilizing the HARRIER in emergency response planning as well as, Search and Rescue operations, the LASD will be able to provide an unprecedented amount of information on a nearly instantaneous time fame to key personnel.
Los Angeles County Sheriff responders now have access to IP Access International’s SELECT Network; geographically diverse teleports – separated by 2,400 miles – with high bandwidth reliability, capable of supporting multiple voice lines, video conferencing and video surveillance. In the event of a partial or complete failure of the spacecraft, antenna, teleport infrastructure, or other ground equipment, service on the IP Access SELECT Network can be restored immediately to an always on, alternate ground facility and/or satellite. In addition, LASD joins IPA’s RedPHONE community to ensure reliable “off-grid” communications and allowing access to a web-based online directory, showing the status and extension of 1,700 other RedPHONE agency subscribers.
